Current Events

Rio Cucharas and Greenhorn Village are alive with campers and new structures.  Several lots have people camping on them and some seem to be living there which is against the Huerfano Building Code.  Two lots now have steel shipping containers sitting on them.  One lot has three containers while another has two containers.  These are also in violation of the County Building Code.  A trailer house and Jeep were abandoned on Huajatolla Blvd. and blocking the road.  Since they were in the County right-of-way and at the prompting of the HOA, they were removed by the County. The area is still very green due to an abundance of moisture which might reduce the risk of fire danger.  But, with many campers building fires, a wildfire is still a concern.  Apparently, one owner was growing marijuana which is against the law for a lot on which you do not live and have a permanent structure.
